Summer Internships turn to Full-Time Careers @ Adelphi University
Last year over 800 Adelphi students were placed in Internships. However, the hard work does not stop after the interview. It is up to Adelphi students to make a positive, memorable impact at these big businesses. Meet Vishwanath an M.B.A. student specializing in accounting from India. This summer, Vishwanath was lucky enough to accept his third internship/career opportunity while studying at Adelphi. He would be spending his summer at Ernst & Young. This internship would then lead to the Fortune 500 company offering him a full-time position after graduation. Ernst & Young is also one of the “big four” accounting firms. According to Accountingverse.com, “The Big 4 refers to the four largest accounting firms in the world. These firms provide an extensive range of accounting and auditing services including external audit, taxation services, management and business consultancy, and risk assessment and control.”
“Ever since I got to Adelphi, I have had many opportunities on campus for professional development. Coming from outside of The States can be a challenge for many international students studying in America. Adelphi has the connections and great location in New York that make it easier for us to get our foot in the door.” – Vishwanath, IndiaEvery fall semester, Adelphi University welcomes a handful of accounting firms that come visit our campus to discuss internships and full-time opportunities with students. This is how Viswanath started to learn about the application process for Ernst & Young. Vishwanath knew the position would be competitive and that he would have to make a unique impact at the company to stand out from the rest. With the help of the Career Accelerator and professional development resources at Adelphi International, Vishwanath was comfortable with showcasing his professional skills that summer.
“There were a lot of responsibilities during the internship. The hard work did pay off. The amount of experience that the company gave me over the three-month period cannot be expressed in words.” – Vishwanath, IndiaAt the end of the summer, Ernst & Young takes their most promising interns on a trip to Florida to celebrate their hard work at Disney World. On the last day of the celebration, the company then offers their top candidate’s full-time positions. During his last semester at Adelphi University, Vishwanath is continuing to grow his resume by helping with Jagger Community Fellows and Accounting Off-Campus Recruitments which are competitive programs that offers paid internships/full-time jobs for Adelphi students. The Adelphi International family is so proud of all of our students and are excited to see the opportunities Adelphi University opens to each and every one of them!
